As most people know there is only 1 forum of bringing in currency at this time. bounty hunting. Trade is not a income into the server its just trading value around not bringing in wealth to the area. Most people just put straight into the deeds to maintain them, sure some deeds are a little larger thanks to a few groups working together but for the most part most earned money just goes straight into the deeds at this time. I would like to see other methods of income coming into the server.
One method ive seen work on servers is reward programs for building public roads that meet requirements and towers for public usage. We the players build public roads, towers to protect the lands players put a request in the forums showing there work, the staff go to the area and check the work out and if it meets requirements it is rewarded with currency of a set value. staff even leave signs close to the roads or towers to show it was paid for as proof to prevent double payments.
Other public structures could be worship areas, maybe even markets for public usage. Let us the players help build this server and reward those who help build this server up. That is my suggestion, any feedback or other ideas?

I don't like the idea of giving out money for roads or towers like some servers do, it feels unsandboxish. (is that a word? it is now.)
Also money is very easily available on the server by selling stuff to traders which have an effectively infinite supply of cash.
I do however like the idea of promoting construction of meaningful infrastructure. I'm thinking about making some kind of monthly competition or raffle for players taking on those projects. I'll make an official announcement when i thing the details through.
Added: Projects completed before the announcement is made will still be retroactively eligible for participation, so don't hold off building stuff for now.

I'd argue that money isn't that easy if you deed far away from a Trader, but I agree that paying for stuff seems unbalanced. That said, supporting the road infrastucture is a great idea, it makes a huge difference if deeds can be connected via proper roads.

Yes I agree with soulbane, I would need a boat to get back to the trader and I want to expand my deed before I start building it. Is there no way to purchase silver?

I hate cash shops with a passion and this server will not sell coins (or anything else) for RL money.
I personally don't think money is hard to earn now, between the traders, bounties, treasure chests and the random rare coins you can get from various actions. But i'm open to discussion if the community feels like there should be other ways to gain money.

ive seen it were you can gain a little money from just burying corpses, doesn't have to be a lot maybe like 1 copper. But it'll help with lag in the future as well clearing off creatures so more can spawn, as well. also yes there has been quite a bit of fear and talks on the server(and Discord), most ppl are just putting all money into deed at this time to maintain and do little expansions. people need things but dont have any currency to trade with. ive myself have resorted to item for item trading for now. furs for gems is one example. Personally i feel like current mechanics are right at that balance point were its like working a normal job and just pays the bills. were just looking for that little bit to starting making some lush money to encourage trading.
another idea maybe just boost the bounty on some creatures again doesn't have to be a lot. small boost and see how it goes for a bit.

I agree a small increase in hunting bounties might be good, that gives a way to participate in economy to people who like to hunt but not to craft. Or for groups of hunters to band together to tackle harder creatures.
Maybe for the explorer types also an increased awareness of how treasure chests reward people who just wander around. Perhaps a serverwide message, "Rumors have trickled in to traders about a (Supreme Treasure Chest) someplace (very far / quite close) to the (Northwest) of (Hermits Landing). Traders will offer a lot of coin for anyone who can find this treasure and sell the contents to them!"
Also if traders had a "bonus item of the day" >> "Traders in the capitol of Iras announce that today only they will be offering a substantial bonus to items crafted with (Leatherworking)(Pottery)(Toymaking)(Fletching)(Dairymaking) skill! A good day for specialized craftsman to bring their wares to the capitol traders for barter!" "Traders in Irkalia have countered by offering substantial bonuses on (Libila Puppets)(Willowwood Buckets)(Lead Anchors)(Pottery Shingles) -- is another trade war brewing between the capitals of light and dark?"
This might give craftsman more incentive to travel to the capital on that particular day to sell their wares and with it an increased knowledge of selling to traders in general. That might be hard to code however --- I have no idea. It would not be totally random skills/items but rather ones from a preselected list that touches on a broad range of different skill trees. Or it could be items: (Amphoras)(Lemonwood Planks)(Silver Pendulums)(Tin Cake Pans)(Willow Longbow)(Maplewood Leggat)

I didn't know about the trader being a infinity source of cash and that's great for people close. Any chance of having a trader way up north and way down south somewhere? In time these places could a place to add a merchants.

If anyone wants to start a nice public market in an accessible spot, i'll place a trader there.
